In the wake of rematch speculations, Dana White insults fans of Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor 2

Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather are rumored to be having a rematch, but UFC president Dana White has made an effort to put a halt to it.

The two combat sports legends first met in 2017, when "Money" defeated McGregor in round 10 of one of the most popular pay-per-view fights ever.

There are already discussions for a potential rematch with "Notorious," according to FightHype, the boxing YouTube channel with by far the closest ties to Mayweather's organization.

The Irishman contributed to the rumors by posting a picture from his bout with Mayweather to social media with the caption: "I accept" late last week.

Since then, there has been silence, but the UFC president is now attempting to put a stop to rumors that his greatest star and the 50-0 boxer will engage in a second battle.

"Not me. On The Jim Rome Show, White stated, "I'm not talking about that.

White is unsure of the precise date McGregor will start competing again, but he is quite convinced that it will take place inside the UFC Octagon.

It will be kept in a cage. Conor wants to return by the end of this year or the beginning of next," he continued.

"Conor wants to fight whenever I do talk to him. Conor receives several offers for acting jobs in movies and other opportunities to earn money.

He isn't interested in doing any of it. Conor desires conflict. He is compensated for his fighting. What he wants to do is fight.

McGregor's devastating leg injury at UFC 264 has kept him out of action for over a year.

In the opening round of his third bout with Dustin Poirier in July of last year, the 33-year-old suffered fractures to his tibia and fibula.

Since that time, he has been focusing on his recovery, which seems to have made a significant progress in recent weeks as McGregor has resumed his kicking.

Charles Oliveira, Michael Chandler, and Jorge Masvidal are among those challenging "Mystic Mac" when he makes a comeback, but the fighter himself wants to compete for the welterweight belt against Kamaru Usman.
