Whittaker suggested an interesting modification on how to defeat the best boxer

Francis Ngannou's chances of defeating Tyson Fury in a boxing ring, according to Robert Whittaker, are slim unless Ngannou is using MMA gloves.

In April, "The Gyspy King" defeated Whyte at Wembley by knockout in the sixth round before announcing his permanent retirement from the sport.

When the WBC heavyweight champion invited Ngannou to the ring during his post-fight address, it became clear that Fury was still fighting even though he had retired from boxing.

When Ngannou has recovered from knee surgery and settled his contract issue with the UFC, the heavyweight tandem discussed a crossover match under hybrid rules that is anticipated to happen in 2023.

Whittaker, a huge fan of Fury, believes "The Predator" has no chance in a traditional boxing bout versus Fury.

“That’s not diminishing Ngannou, I do think he’s a phenomenal fighter and he’s got some serious power, but Fury has fought some of the biggest hitters in the world,” Whittaker added.

“I think for Ngannou to have a good shot at winning a boxing fight, it would have to be with small gloves. A four-ounce glove boxing fight, that’s going to be dangerous, that’s not going to past the first.”

Whittaker is set to begin his road back to another title shot when he squares off against top contender Marvin Vettori at UFC Paris on September 3.
