For Antonio Silva, the bad circumstances just keep getting worse.
At a Friday MMA Series event in Moscow, "Bigfoot" suffered yet another dreadful knockout loss to Russian heavyweight Oleg Popov.
A lightning-fast left punch from Popov knocked down Silva, a former heavyweight title contender for the UFC, as soon as he took a step into it.
When the referee entered the fight and it became clear that Silva was unconscious, Popov delivered a second ground attack but then withdrew. Round 2's official halt occurred at 0:15.
For Silva (19-14, 1 NC), this marks his 10th defeat by knockout in his last 11 fights and his seventh straight defeat (excluding a no contest).
All but one of the defeats were suffered by KO/TKO. The Brazilian, 42, has just one victory dating back to May 2013, and during his dry spell, he has also lost by knockout in kickboxing and bare-knuckle boxing.
With his 13th straight victory, Popov, 30, continued his winning streak and increased his professional record to 15-1. He's defeated his last seven opponents in a rout.
