(VIDEO) Rousimar Palhares, a former UFC contender, loses for the third time in a row in Russia

Rousimar Palhares' UFC post-fight career is in flux. a difficult period after a disappointing debut for Absolute Championship Akhmat on Friday, the former UFC contender is on a three-fight losing streak.

Palhares (19-10-1) was stopped in the first round of his ACA 140 middleweight battle in Sochi, Russia, against Ibragim Magomedov.

Palhares was clipped by a straight left, then cornered by Magomedov (9-2) against the cage, where he took a flurry of shots that sat him down on the canvas. The referee overseeing the bout quickly jumped in to stop the fight.

Palhares, 42, hasn't had the best of luck in Russia. His other two defeats occurred there as well, albeit for different reasons. When he tapped out Alexey Ivanov with a heel hook at Fight Nights Global 70 in 2017, the Brazilian's hand was raised for the first time.

Palhares is 4-5-1 since his tumultuous UFC debut, when he defeated Mike Pierce with a 31-second ankle lock that he looked to hold on to long after Pierce tapped and the referee attempted to halt the fight.
